There Will Be VINYL!!!
$24,305 raised. 135% funded. 289 backers.
Today, I would like to share with you my all-time
favorite photo ever.
In the very middle stands my wife, Kelsey, popping her first-ever champagne bottle, surrounded by her bridesmaids the night before our wedding day. And every single person's face communicates such an intense degree of surprise that it has easily gone down in history among us and our friends. I feel like Norman Rockwell made this up.
I share this because I know of no other image that can adequately express the sheer magnitude of shock, awe, and delight that I feel today, knowing that:
1) I'll be recording an album next month,
2) Said album will contain 10 songs,
and
3) I will be able to play said album on a record player.
In January of this year, as I first began to casually consider making a new album soon(-ish), all of this was a pipe dream. Now it's happening, and it's happening soon!
A Few Practical Items
Let's move on briefly to a few housekeeping matters:
1) Vinyl. I was just as surprised as everyone else that we reached that second stretch goal! I've done a bit of brainstorming concerning the method by which backers and other folks will reserve a copy of the vinyl album, but I haven't finalized any plans yet. Rest assured that if you are interested in getting your hands on a copy, I will be in communication with you about how to do so in the coming months.
2) Backer surveys. This is an incredibly crucial step in the Kickstarter process and ensures that I have all the information I need to get you your rewards in a timely manner. Backers, be on the lookout for this survey in an email in the coming weeks, likely the first or second week of October.
3) I'm signing off for the rest of this week. I've enjoyed being a bit more active and communicative on social media, sending letters to my email list, and such over this past month. It's been exciting and encouraging. But after sharing this update, I'm going to back away for the rest of this week and take a rest. You're welcome to reach out with questions at any time—on Kickstarter, Instagram, via email at drewmillersongs@gmail.com—but I won't be responding until next week. Just wanted to let you know.
I've said it many times, but I can't stop saying it: I'm so incredibly lucky to get to do this. These songs I've spent so much of 2020 and 2021 writing, revising, ordering and re-ordering, and arranging in my head—I finally get to bring them to life in their fullest form, and I love that I get to do all of this for you. Thank you for making it possible, and thank you for lending a listening ear.
Peace,
Drew
